A leather finish is the mechanical technique used to alter the look and feel of a leather product after it’s tanned (cured).
Manufacturers finish their leather for many reasons:
- To make it more scratch and dirt resistant by adding a protective layer
- To give it a desired texture depending on the leather product’s functionality
- To elevate the look of the leather product
- To improve the product’s durability and resistance to wear and tear
